The 51st Cherokee PRCA Rodeo wrapped up three performances of rodeo action June 1-3, 2017. Top ranked contestants in the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) competed for prize money and trophy buckles.
Barnes' animal athletes thrilled the crowds nightly with their energetic bucking style. The high marked bareback horse was St. Paul Crystal, offspring of Crystal Springs. The brown mare repeated the MVP title for the second straight rodeo among the Barnes' bareback herd.
Red Horse Crossin', Barry Crossin', Cloudy Country were the top earning saddle bronc horses. Nick Shenold from Weatherford, Okla. captured the "w" while Dalton Kingery rode Barry Crossin' for second followed by NFR qualifer JJ Elshere from Hereford, S.D. on Cloudy Country.
The rank bucking bulls averaged 80% buck off rates against the field of bull riders. Bullrider Bart Miller from Plesanton, Neb. rode Cruise Control for a score of 82.5 points to claim the win. Barnes's bulls Bird Dog and Ada Been 90 rounded out the top three bulls endorsing paychecks. The Badlands Circuit contenders from South Dakota Tate Tybo, Belle Fourche and Andy Couglin, De Smet placed second and third.
