Iowa cowboys cash paychecks in Sioux City
The Rawhide Bull Riding Challenge returned to Sioux City, Iowa on Friday January 20 and Saturday January 21. Contestants from coast to coast including Oregon to New York and along the I-35 route from Texas to Minnesota entered the bull riding competition. Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, South Dakota and Wisconsin represented the Badlands, Great Plains and Great Lakes region of the country. The action-packed battle of the bulls matched the toughest cowboys against the Barnes' bull herd.
Friday night John Young from Orient, Iowa rode Champagne Jam in the long go advancing to the money round. His 85-point ride of the night signed his paycheck in the short round. Iowa native, Dakota Nye a student at Tarleton State University finished second with 83 points.
Trevor Reiste drew Tyson Bob (2016 Great Lakes Circuit Finals bull) on Saturday night to put himself in the driver's seat for the ATM with his own 85-point ride. The Linden, Iowa resident endorsed his first place check with his 82-point ride in the short round. Ueberson Duarte from Spring Valley, South Dakota finished second with 81 points taking him to the pay window.
